ITEMS NEEDED FOR THE YOUTH KITCHEN
Every Sunday and Wednesday evening Barb Miller cooks up a great meal for the teens. Many of the items that she uses have been garage sale finds and are no longer working. If you have a crock pot, storage containers (Tupperware, etc.), dish towels or any other kitchen items that you would like to donate, please contact Barb Miller at 639-3226.
CHILDREN'S CAMP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
B.L.A.S.T. 2007, our Central District kids' camp will be July 21-25 at Camp Michindoh in Hillsdale, MI. The camp depends on volunteers each year who are willing to spend their week in ministry to the more than 300 children who attend. Are you available and willing? We are currently looking for volunteers to serve as Counselors and Assistant Counselors. Staff members must attend a Missionary church, fill out an application, and have a pastor's recommendation. To be considered for a position, volunteers must submit their completed applications by April 1st. Please see Pastor Kerry if you are interested, or give him a call at 747-1531. We would love to have you on board!
BOOK CORNER
Are you interested in a new ministry? When we worshipped at the West Campus there was a library and the books were stored when the Family Life Center was built. Recently the books were discovered! There are still many books that are relevant for today and could be made available to everyone. If you would be interested in helping to organize and establish the criteria for how the books would be handled please contact the church office at 747-1531.
NEW MINITRY POSITIONS
With the establishment of a new leadership structure there will no longer be subsidiary boards, which were appointed and affirmed by the congregation. The newly elected council wants to inform you of who will be accountable for the many ministries in the church. - Click Here - We will have a full report with more details to present at the congregational meeting scheduled for February 17th.
COMMUNION PREP TEAM
We celebrate the Lord's Supper at Avalon about once a month, and those elements don't just show up with a big "poof!" Our Communion Prep Team spends about an hour preparing communion on the Saturday before, and then another hour on Sunday morning to clean it all up. If we have ten to twelve folks who volunteer to help. Your help behind the scenes helps make worship a meaningful experience for everyone and brings home the meaning of Christ's sacrifice. It makes a difference! If you're interested in more information about his ministry or would like to volunteer to help, you can call Doris Hough at 432-4888 or Sarah Soares at 437-7944.
LABELS FOR THE SCHOOL
The preschool has begun participating in the Campbell's Labels for Education. This program is similar to the Box Tops, labels are redeemed for supplies. Items redeemed for the school also benefit the kids who attend church at Avalon. Collection containers along with a list of new items to collect are located at the Welcome Center and Kids' Connection Sign-in. Thanks for supporting Avalon School!
ATTENTION GREETERS
Thank you for your dedication to greet the attendees of Avalon each week! Your smile and welcome are so appreciated! Last week, a thank you and recommitment sheet was placed in your mailbox. Inadvertently, where to return it was left off. Please place them in Mike and Frances Brooks' mailbox. If you are interested in becoming a greeter, or assisting with the Hot Spot or Welcome Center, please contact Frances Brooks at 672-9311 or brooksfm@verizon.net. Again, thank you for your commitment to serving Avalon and ultimately Christ.
INTERESTED IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD'S LIFE?
It's exciting to see the volunteer schedule slowly fill up in our Kids' Connection ministry. However, there is still a great need for help in our 2-year-old class. At least one person is needed the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Sundays of the month, as well as two volunteers on every 5th Sunday of the month during second service. It's a great ministry for a couple or a family. If you are available to help out, please see Pastor Kerry today or call or email him at the office. Thanks for your prayerful consideration.
SPECIAL NEEDS MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for individuals to assist special needs children in the children's ministry programs. If you would enjoy one-on-one ministry and have a heart for working with children with special needs, call Ann Chivers at 434-0897 for more information.
COULD YOU PRAY ONE MINUTE A DAY FOR OUR NATION?
It is reported that during World War II an advisor to Winston Churchill organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to pray collectively for the safety of England, its people and for peace. There is now a movement developing to do the same in our country for such a time as this. If you would like to participate, you can pause every evening at 9 p.m. (Eastern Time) and spend one minute praying for our nation, our troops, and for a return to God. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have! Here's a chance to make a real difference!
CHAIR TEAMS NEEDED
Chairs are set-up and taken down each week in the Family Life Center. At the present time we are short on workers and are looking for at least ten (10) volunteers. Time required to set-up is 45 minutes; take-down 35-40 minutes. Can you help us? If you can, call John Steiner, 747-4856 or sign-up on the tear-off sheet of your bulletin.
