Roles of the Health & Wellness Ministry
To Educate 
  • by raising the health awareness of our church community
  • by promoting an understanding of how faith and health relate and impact one another
  • by offering educational information, seminars and workshops to members of our church family
  • by offering periodic and routine health screenings
  • by providing information about community resources specific to the needs of the individual
To Support 
  • anyone with concerns related to health, social or spiritual issues
  • through visitation and contact with the sick, hospitalized and homebound
  • by providing a listening ear and prayer support
To Advocate 
  • for patient rights and decision-making
  • by coming along side those who have no family or support system
To Coordinate 
  • volunteers within the congregation to serve on the health and wellness ministry team
  • by identifying resources within the congregation to help meet the practical needs of the individual
When to call for help...
  • When you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a serious illness and you have questions or you need support
  • When you need information about advance directions such as a living will
  • When you are dealing with a major life transition, such as deciding about nursing home options
  • When you face early discharge from the hospital and need additional support services
  • When you have questions about children's health issues
  • When you have questions about physical fitness and activities to promote stress reduction
  • When you are dealing with chronic illness and need to locate a support group
  • When you are caring for a loved one at home and need support
  • When you want to talk about any health concern (large or small)

How can I get Involved?

You do not have to be a health care worker to help with the Health and Wellness Ministry. You can assist with various activities, some of which may be health related, but many which require only a caring hearth and a desire to serve members of our church family. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with this ministry, contact one the the Committee Members listed above.

All communications and conversations between members of the Health & Wellness Ministry Team and individuals in the church family receiving assistance will be treated in a confidential manner consistent with standards of pastoral care, unless reporting would be required by law. No information will be shared with any church staff member, family, or other health care professional without the express consent of the person receiving assistance.
