The Heart's Most Authentic Breath

Psalm 145:1-21

When words are especially familiar, it's easy for us to throw them around without carefully considering the experience to which they refer.  Such is the case with a word like "praise."  It's a concept that we think we know at one level, but also come to know in greater depths as we explore its richness.  This Sunday our Kidtricity group will lead us in a time of worship focused around this idea of praise.  Then we'll turn our attention to David's words of praise in Psalm 145 as we take a closer look at ?The Heart's Most Authentic Breath."

If You Ask Me One More Time.
John 21:15-19
Ever felt like someone kept asking you the same question over and over again?  Peter sure did in the account we'll study today.  Jesus asked him the same question not once, not twice, but three times.  And just maybe He was trying to make a point. a point that Peter needed to catch.  It's also a word that we need to hear.  That's what we'll look to understand today as we consider Peter's thought: "If You Ask Me One More Time."

With or Without Him
John 21:1-14
There's a HUGE difference between what we can do on our own and what we can do with Christ's power at work in our lives.  In the days following Jesus' death and resurrection, His disciples were still trying to make sense of all that had happened.  Some of them went right back to fishing, but did not find their efforts to be very successful.  and then the risen Jesus stepped onto the scene and everything changed.  Today we look at the power of the risen Christ as we consider whether we choose to do life "With or Without Him."

Beyond the Shadow of Doubt
John 20:24-31
The stories of Jesus' post-resurrection appearances were not at all persuasive for a disciple named Thomas who is forever associated with the practice of doubting.  His demands about seeing the nail marks in Jesus' hands and Jesus' subsequent appearance before Thomas help us to see the connection between faith and the unseen.  This morning our Close Encounters series continues as we explore that connection more carefully to discover how we can live life "Beyond the Shadow of Doubt."

A Case of Dramatic Heartburn
Luke 24:13-35
The days following the very first Easter were filled with amazing stories.  Jesus had been killed in a very public way. but suddenly there were more Jesus "sightings" than there are Elvis sightings in our day.  Believe it or not, these "sightings" are filled with important truths that impact our lives.  And so today we begin a new series called Close Encounters as we seek to learn from those who witnessed His resurrection appearances firsthand.  We start today with a look at "A Case of Dramatic Heartburn."
