SOUPER BOWL SUNDAE IS COMING FEBRUARY 5TH
It’s finally here (almost)! Souper Bowl Sundae! Next Sunday, bring your favorite soup to share. The church will provide bowls and spoons but you are welcome to bring your muffin tins! We will also have bread from Panera and drinks. Oh, and don’t forget that the church will provide all the fixin’ to make sundaes! Plan on being here at 12:15 p.m., or as soon as the tables can be setup and the food is ready. We really are glad for the opportunity to share in the soup you bring, sundaes the church makes and the fellowship we have around the tables! Avalonians are known for wonderful soups!
We are looking forward to see you!
BABY DEDICATION
Avalon welcomes those who would like to dedicate their children to the Lord. If you are interested in finding out more about baby dedication, contact Pastor Jeff at 747-1531. He will be happy to share with you that information.
A WORD ABOUT WEATHER AND CANCELLATIONS
As we come into the winter season and snow and ice begin to form, we wanted to be sure to let everyone know how we handle the communication of decisions regarding the cancellation of services. Generally speaking we like to go ahead with our services on a regular schedule for those who are able to make it to the church campus. Given the nature of some winter weather, some areas of the city can be impassable while others are clear. And obviously some vehicles are better equipped for travel in such weather conditions. Please use wise judgment about whether or not it's advisable for you to travel in such weather..
When cancellation is necessary you can check one of the following information outlets:
Internet - We'll post any cancellation on our website Home Page
You can also check the WBCL website - www.wbcl.org (go to "Delays and Cancellations" page, then click on "Church")
Television stations - Channels 15, 21 and 33
Radio station - WBCL, 90.3 FM
In addition, we will send an e-mail blast to our website's e-mail list. If your e-mail address has been added to our list, then you'll receive an e-mail about the cancellation. If you would like to add your e-mail address to this list, you can click on the "Site Mailing List" link at the very bottom of the page of our website. This is one of the quickest and most efficient ways we can spread the word. Please add your e-mail address today to help us in the effort to keep our communication as effective as possible.
One of the more difficult situations occurs when the storm is hitting during Sunday morning services. We'll do our best to make a wise call as early as possible on a Sunday, but rapidly changing weather conditions may sometimes require that we make decisions as the morning unfolds.

IMAGINE WHAT GOD MIGHT DO.
Imagine what God might do if His people at Avalon were praying during all that happens around here on a Sunday morning! Imagine what could happen if you were a part of that! Imagine what might happen if YOU spent 15 minutes on Sunday morning in the prayer room!
Our Prayer Team is looking for some Avalonians to fill in 15-minute spots during the 1st and 2nd services, and Sunday school. You could spend time praising God and praying for the worship team, the teachers, the preacher and for those who are hearing from God during that time. If you would be willing to help with this vital part of our Sunday morning ministry, you can sign up at the Welcome Center for one or more spots if you would like! If you would prefer to pray alone, please specify that on the sheet and note it on the door when you arrive to pray (otherwise, even if someone else is praying, you're invited to come on in and pray as well!). Take a step into the prayer room and pray away to the Maker of Heaven and earth!

AVALON FOOD PANTRY
|
|
|
Needed "Item of the Week" - ramen noodles
The Food Pantry Motto is: A Helping Hand. The Pantry needs hands (especially men) to help each Thursday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. unloading a truck, and getting the food ready to give that evening. As the number increases, the amount of food needed also increases.
Hats and gloves, scarves of all sizes; for men and women and kids are being requested right now. REMEMBER we have a large DONATIONS container by the back porch for large quantity or size items.
Avalon. remember the pantry is this church wanting to help our own people. It is not necessarily a fact that others are in need more than you are. There is no gauge measuring where a need begins or ends. Those who have received groceries find it is a big help. To all who volunteer; each Thursday you are thanked, praised, called a blessing, and asked to be their prayer partner. So many say without your help they could not make it the rest of the week. Call 414-8391 to receive groceries or come Thursday to the Food Pantry.
